How to Be a True Gentleman on a First Date?

First Date

Most of you are going to have a first date whether you want to or not, because it is a part of our lives.

You may have tried to avoid the occasion as much as possible, as it could turn into a disaster, but it happens more often than you think.

So what can you do to be a real gentleman and turn your first date into a real good time for you and the lady?

Decide on the location

The location of the data reveals a great deal about your personality. First and foremost, you should enquire as to whether or not your date has any preferences as to where you should go on your date. Some individuals like a sit-down meal so that they can get to know each other better, while others find this dull and superfluous and prefer to grab a couple of drinks at a nearby bar to get to know one other better.

If your date allows you to organise the evening, you may select a posh restaurant, but bear in mind that you may need to make reservations in advance, as the last thing you want is to arrive at the restaurant and be informed that there is no room for you.

Consider your options and make a reservation by phone or online, if at all feasible, to avoid disappointment. On the other hand, if you do not want to spend your money on a possibly expensive meal, there are a variety of different possibilities available.

For example, you may take your date to a show, visit a museum, or participate in any activity your city offers that you know she would enjoy. One of the most crucial things to remember is to plan ahead of time because winging it frequently creates the appearance that you are not engaged in your date.

Be on Time

There is a strong connection between being on time and being a real gentleman. This is very important to us, because it is a part of our upbringing and we have become a nation of late-comers. How did this happen? First of all, it does not really matter if you are early or on time, but for us it really does. We were taught to show respect and have manners, but in all honesty, being on time is a must.

It is just like showing up at a doctor’s office. When you get to the doctor’s office, you must be on time. If you are late, it may not be possible for you to be seen. When you are showing respect to others, being on time is a part of it. That is not to say that you are allowed to be late, just to show respect for others and that you are going to try to give your best when you show up on time.

If you are late, it is best to call ahead or at least give her a call, just to explain. If you are not allowed in because of late arrival, you could always wait a couple of minutes. Be honest and upfront with her. You are going to need to show respect to her, too, by being honest.

Groom well before the date

You should also spend some time grooming yourself to make a good first impression. For those who haven’t had a haircut in quite some time, you might think about scheduling an appointment with your stylist. If you have long hair, make sure to style it pleasingly.

Trim your facial hair and get rid of any unwanted hair if necessary. File your nails, shower, and put on deodorant before going to bed. Don’t go overboard with the fragrance. Even if it is your trademark perfume, keep it mild because you don’t want to overpower your date by smelling like you.

Wear nice clothes

It is also necessary to dress professionally. It goes without saying that what you wear will be determined by where you are going. Consider the fact that you will almost certainly not wear the same outfit to a restaurant and a museum.

You must, however, maintain a professional appearance and put some consideration into your attire. Don’t go overboard with formal attire; avoid suits and anything else that is overly formal.

On the other hand, don’t go overboard with casual attire, such as surf shorts and flip-flops. Jeans or a decent pair of trousers would do just fine, and you can match them with a variety of shirts, ranging from collared button-downs to sweaters, depending on your preference.

You may finish off the look with a well-fitting jacket or blazer. It is also crucial to consider the shoes. Dress shoes are not required, and sneakers are a great alternative if you don’t have any boots on hand to go with your outfit. However, be certain that they are clean and not entirely worn out before using them. Accessories are also important, so don’t forget about your socks, belt, and watch when getting dressed.

Bring flowers to surprise your date

Even if you think it’s cliche and out of date, that’s part of what makes it so interesting. Consider purchasing your date flowers as a way to surprise them and demonstrate that you’ve put some thought into the evening.

If you don’t have time to visit a local flower store, you may buy flower arrangements and have them delivered to your house on the day of the event. Regardless matter whether you choose a single red rose or a dozen of pink tulips, your date will undoubtedly appreciate your thoughtfulness.

Arrive on time

Once you’ve settled on a time, make a proposal to your date and offer to take her up. Then, be sure to show up there on time if they say yes. You don’t want to arrive late, but you also don’t want to arrive too early if they aren’t ready. When you arrive, don’t just send them a text message; instead, walk up to their door and introduce yourself.

When deciding on a location, it’s best to go there a little early to scout out the area, confirm your reservation, obtain the tickets you need, or relax a little before your date comes. Offer them a hug, give them the flowers, and give them a compliment on their looks to start the conversation off on the right foot.

Be polite to everyone.

It’s important to treat others with compassion, even while being kind to your date and demonstrating your chivalry. Be kind to the waiter and refrain from bringing up the people in your party to avoid this. If you’re negative, your date will notice and you may not want to go on another date with you.

Come up with interesting topics to talk about

Because you will most likely spend the date getting to know one other, you should prepare some engaging conversation starters. Some individuals despise small chats, so don’t be afraid to talk about the future or your deepest concerns with the other people you meet.

You can introduce yourself and start a conversation by posing questions to your date. If you show any interest in what they like, it will be easy to maintain a discussion with them. Show your interest by nodding and smiling. On the other side, bringing up prior relationships or disparaging your ex is something you should avoid at all costs.

Pay for the meal

Especially if you recommend the restaurant, you must pay the bill when you dine there. Even if your date offers to share the cost, don’t take them up on it. Tell them they’ll be able to do it again. This is a sweet approach to letting your date know you’d want to go on another date.

Don’t have an end goal.

Finally, don’t make any plans for the conclusion of the date. Don’t force anything if you want to kiss if it’s not the perfect moment. Ask your date if you can do something else if you think the moment is perfect. Remind them of how much fun you had on the date, thank them for inviting you, and ask if they’d want to see each other again soon.

This book will help you act like a genuine gentleman when you go on a date by helping you choose the proper place, putting effort into your appearance, and understanding how to act and say the right things.
